“Guanajuato has a clear course because it is betting on innovation, Mindfacture and industry 4.0 with the purpose of improving the quality of life of Guanajuato residents”, said the Governor of the State, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, upon receiving the award that the company wiwi received from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), for making it posible that 100 percent of public transport users in Leon have Internet access in their trips.
In the event the transport providers presented the new units of the SIT that are already in use on the street of Leon.
The Governor said that he is proud that wiwi and transport providers of Leon, have received the ITU award, in the category of “Innovation in Connectivity”, in which they competed with more than 200 “Startups” from all over the world.
This award is for ensuring that 100% of public transport users in Leon have internet access in the 1,732 transport units, 98 bus stops and 8 transfer stations.
This connectivity made Leon the first city in Latin America and fifth in the world with free internet on public transport.
“This award is an award for Mindfacture, it is to generate wealth and value for people through knowledge and innovation. We are competing and winning in the world, this distinction is proof of that”, said the Governor.
“Innovation generates more social inclusion, as in this case of public transport in Leon, which is now the best Integrated Transport System in Mexico and Latin America”, noted Rodríguez Vallejo.
“This award celebrates the innovation and creativity of applications and projects based on Information Technology, which improve people’s lives”, said the Governor.
This project was registered for the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) 2021 contest that recognizes the most promising innovative technological solutions with social impact in the real world.
