State and Federal Authorities hold two working groups to monitor the housing program
Guanajuato/Gto News
The People’s Government, in coordination and collaboration with the National Workers’ Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit), held two working groups, one with seven municipalities in Guanajuato and a second with business chambers, to advance housing construction.

The meeting, chaired by Secretary of Government Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona, was attended by Infonavit Director General Octavio Romero Oropeza; Infonavit Regional Delegate in Guanajuato Gustavo Pintos Gutierrez; Villagran Mayor Cinthia Guadalupe Teniente Mendoza; and San Diego de La Union Mayor Juan Carlos Castillo Cantero; as well as representatives from the municipalities of Celaya, Apaseo el Grande, San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, and Comonfort.

At the workshop, participants made progress in monitoring the land donation proposals from participating municipalities for the Housing for Bienestar Program, as well as in defining the next steps.

The Secretary of Government emphasized that “on behalf of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, I want to tell you how happy we are to have you here. We know that, now more than ever, INFONAVIT is committed to bringing great results, and that the President of Mexico and the Governor of Guanajuato are keen and committed to coordinating and collaborating for the benefit of the people of Guanajuato.”
Infonavit general director, Octavio Romero Oropeza, reconfirmed that the housing program will focus on the development of 1.1 million homes across the country, 21,000 of which will be in the State of Guanajuato: 6,000 through the National Housing Commission (CONAVI) program and 15,000 through INFONAVIT. These homes will have a minimum surface area of 60 square meters and are targeted at workers earning up to 2.0 times the minimum wage.

Romero Oropeza explained that the seven municipalities that attended the meeting are the most advanced in the process of donating land on which 1,168 homes are planned to be built. Among the requirements they requested were the completion of the donation process, exemption of fees/taxes related to licenses, opinions, permits, and procedures, and accelerating feasibility studies for basic services such as water, sewage, and electricity, to name a few.

The attending municipalities emphasized that they know the Governor’s vision of supporting people and job creators in Guanajuato. They also requested that the federation allow municipalities to benefit from the use of local materials and labor, as well as inspect some other lots.
After the roundtable discussion with the mayors, the Secretary of State and INFONAVIT officials met with representatives of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) and the Chamber of the Housing Development and Promotion Industry (CANADEVI) to inform them about the housing project to be built in Guanajuato.
