Dolores Hidalgo/Gto News
Mexicans celebrate Independence in September and Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende, as well as all municipalities in Guanajuato are dressing in the Mexican colors.
San Miguel de Allende is ready to celebrate the traditional “Grito” on the night of September 15 although this year it will be a shortened, less jubilant celebration because of the Covid 19 pandemic, as Authorities have warned not to go out in large numbers to avoid contagion.
Where it all started
The same happens in Dolores Hidalgo, the city known in Mexico as “The Craddle of the Independence” since it was here that Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla called on Mexicans to rebel against the Spanish rule.
A ceremony without a celebration
The city of Dolores Hidalgo is all dressed in patriotic colors too, the downtown of the city is ready to receive visitors and Authorities have announced that there will be a ceremony to observe and remember the “Grito de Dolores” although they have also made clear that only a few hundred people will be allowed to the ceremony, which this year will not have a celebration as it used to be other years.
Guanajuato is opened for tourism and all are welcome observing health protective actions.
