“The Guanajuato Health System is not only the best in the country, it is also a system that makes all of us proud,” said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo during the broadcast of the program Connecting with People.

This time Libia was with Gabriel Cortes Alcala, Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, the Governor recognized the training, warmth, and commitment of all the staff in this agency.

“When I toured the State, I realized the great recognition the Secretary of Health enjoys. People in the State and beyond recognize it as a system that truly addresses the needs of the people,” the State leader emphasized.

Among the actions the People’s Government is taking to bring health services to all municipalities and remote communities, the State has 53 Mobile Medical Units, which provide services to 22 municipalities and benefit 121,000 people.

“These units are complementary to the 632 medical units we have throughout the State. And what we seek is to bring health services closer to those communities that are the most remote. The People’s Government must reach out to those where we are most needed,” said Libia Dennise.

There are three types of Mobile Medical Units:

  • Type 0, which provides patient care and medication
  • Type 1, which has a fully equipped office, provides patient care and medication
  • Type 2, which has a medical and dental office

These units enabled more than 71,000 consultations to be provided in 1,293 communities with fewer than 2,500 inhabitants in 2024.

In terms of organ donation, Guanajuato remains one of the best-positioned States for organ transplantation and procurement.

Figures from the Secretary of Health indicate that during 2024 Guanajuato registered:

  • 127 organ and tissue donors
  • 107 kidneys
  • 200 corneas
  • 25 musculoskeletal tissues
  • 26 livers
  • 7 skin tissues

The Governor and the head of the Secretary of Health invited the people of Guanajuato to express their willingness to become donors when applying for a driver’s license and to inform their families about their willingness to donate their organs.

They also talked about the importance of blood donation. The Governor reiterated her commitment to women, mentioning some of the health services that are part of the Allies Strategy.

Libia Dennise reiterated her recognition of all healthcare personnel for their dedication and commitment. “We will continue to strengthen and grow this State’s healthcare system,” she said.

“That’s why we won’t give up our healthcare system, because ours is the best-functioning in Mexico. That’s why we defend what we’ve built together in Guanajuato. It’s synonymous with who we are, it represents us, and it’s prioritizing what truly matters,” said the Governor.
