The Ministry of Culture invites the general public to enjoy the process and exhibition of the winners of the Madonnari festivals held in municipalities, under the motto “Identity and traditions of Guanajuato”, which will take place on November 29 and 30 in the Plaza de la Paz.
For 16 years, the then State Institute of Culture, now the Secretary of Culture of Guanajuato, has coordinated this festival that begins with several madonnari that take place between the months of July to November in the municipalities of:
- Uriangato, Dolores Hidalgo, Celaya, Acambaro, Irapuato, Moroleon, Purisima del Rincon
At Purisima del Rincon the winner in the 5th edition was the Leones artist Carlos Adrian Ortega Sanchez, known as “Charly Ortega”, who was awarded for his talent in the Plaza of the City Hall.
A festival that concludes with the exhibition of the winners in Guanajuato City.
The call for participation is made at a national level and is aimed at established and emerging artists, whose proposals are evaluated on the ability to develop a reinterpretation of a work or personal proposals of the artists. It is important to mention that the theme and categories of participation are chosen at each venue.
On Saturday the 30th, at 5:00 p.m., the awards ceremony will take place in front of the Municipal Presidency, located on Luis Gonzalez Obregon Street, with the presence of Magdalena Zavala Bonachea, General Director of Museums, Visual Arts and Exhibitions; Arturo Lopez Rodriguez, Technical Director of Museums and Visual Arts; Manuel Rios, General Director of 101 Museums Mexico; Julio Cesar Ortega Miranda, manager of the festival in Guanajuato, and Antonio Galindo, museum photography advisor.
