As part of the celebrations for the 200 Years of Guanajuato as a free and sovereign federative State, State and Municipal Authorities led civic, cultural and artistic events.
The Secretary of Government, Jesus Oviedo Herrera, representing the Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, led these commemorative activities that had the participation of the University of Guanajuato, the Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development, the State Institute of Culture and the City Council of Guanajuato Capital .
“Guanajuato celebrates 200 Years of Greatness, of being a free and sovereign State, of being a protagonist in history. A State where the foundations of the institutions that ensure the rule of law were built; We are also a State with a vision of the future that is committed to innovation and clever thinking”, said Oviedo.
“Guanajuato is distinguished by its history, because the fight for Mexican Independence began here and because federalism was forged here in Mexico as a new form of government and thanks to this, today we celebrate 200 years of being a free and sovereign State,” noted the Secretary of Government.
For these celebrations, the University of Guanajuato participated, presenting the show “Guanajuato, Land of My Love, 200 Years of Greatness”, a musical and scenic ensemble with more than 200 artists on stage.
It is a musical show that highlights the historical richness of Guanajuato in its traditions, music, dance and art that distinguishes us as Guanajuatenses.
In the event, the Secretary of Government recognized the presence of students from primary and secondary schools from the State who stood out for their high academic achievement averages.
The celebrations of the 200 Years of Guanajuato as a free and sovereign federative State continued with the traditional “mananitas” and the sharing of a mega cake weighing more than 500 kilograms. This event had the support of the National Chamber of the Baking Industry -CANAINPA-, Guanajuato Delegation.
State and Municipal authorities and “La Colmena” Pastry Shop, a member of the Marca Gto family, distributed more than 6,000 slices of cake with different traditional flavors to the families who came to the Jardin de La Union plaza and its surroundings.
