Love for Guanajuato is being part of history and leaving it as a legacy, said the Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, in the presentation of the “Live Great Stories” Book Collection that shows a part of the main tourist attractions of Guanajuato from a historical perspective.
It is the first collection of four books that strengthens and enriches the culture, history and projection of the State, and is made up of printed history of:
- ‘The Secret Route of Mezcal’
- ‘Camino Real Tierra Adentro’
- ‘Vinas y Bodegas de Guanajuato, Tierra de Vinos’
- ‘San Miguel de Allende in the eyes of Arturo Suarez’
“It is necessary to leave records of the life of Guanajuato because many pages of the history of this country were created here, and it is important to leave to the next generations what was done in Guanajuato”, said the Governor.
‘The Secret Route of Mezcal’, shows vestiges of the old routes of the drink and its presence in the Chichimeca culture throughout Guanajuato territory. Its elaboration and how its process is present today to delight palates.
“It is a great contribution to the origins of mezcal distillation in Guanajuato and there are a series of hypotheses that will surprise us,” said Miguel Angel Aviles Galan, one of the authors of the book.
‘Camino Real Tierra Adentro’, by Luis Ernesto Camarillo and Graciela Cruz Lopez, exposes the land unexplored by the conquerors and even by the pre-Columbian residents themselves, who possibly completely ignored it as a communication route for peoples, and which today shows that it unites eleven States of Mexico and two of the United States of America: New Mexico and Texas.
In ‘Vinas y Bodegas de Guanajuato, Tierra de Vinos’, Rodolfo Gerschman reflects the Guanajuato viticulture of years long gone and that today is positioned as a product that exalts so that in the future, this industry identifies Guanajuato.
“’San Miguel de Allende in the eyes of Arturo Suarez’ shows the legacy of the photographer Arturo Suarez, who lived in San Miguel de Allende in the first decade of the 1900s and died at the age of 91 after the arrival of the new millennium”, said Graciela Cruz Lopez, co-author of the book.
“He left an important photographic legacy that he made in almost 50 years, where he portrayed the growth of the city, spaces that no longer exist, in general, he captured on paper the daily life of San Miguel in black and white; these images show the border between historical and contemporary San Miguel”, said Cruz Lopez.
“Hopefully these books serve to leave the seed sown for future generations,” said the Governor.
“That this literary investment, leaves a legacy to the people of Guanajuato to know in depth what is on this land, therefore, we must be responsible for the cultural heritage and in addition to taking care of it, we must promote it and share it with the world”
