Governor begins rehabilitation and restoration works of emblematic buildings in Guanajuato City

Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, started restoration and rehabilitation works in the temples of San Javier; San Francisco; the Collegiate Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato, and the temple of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, known as the Temple of Bethlehem, with a joint investment of 9.6 million pesos.
There was also a tour of the Company Temple “Oratorio de San Felipe Neri”, in which a little more than 6.3 million pesos were invested from 2018 to 2024.
It is a pleasure to be with all of you to start these important works, which are the pride of the people of Guanajuato, in addition to being cultural and architectural heritage, said the Governor who was with Mayor of Guanajuato, Alejandro Navarro Saldana.
The Governor explained that in the Temple of San Javier the restoration of the dome, the bell tower, the facades and the atrium had an investment for 2.6 million pesos.
In the Temple of San Francisco, the towers, the dome and its drum will be restored, with an investment of just over 2 million pesos.
While in the Collegiate Basilica the atrial wall will be rehabilitated with the replacement of quarry in columns, crosses and roses; in addition to the rehabilitation of the interior surface of the vault and the main lamp with an investment of 2.1 million pesos.
In the Temple of Bethlehem the roofs of the main body, the presbytery, and the right and left transepts will be rehabilitated with an investment of 2.7 million pesos.
Temples will also be restored and rehabilitated in the municipalities of:
- San Francisco del Rincon, Celaya, San Luis de la Paz, Jerecuaro, Ocampo and Penjamo
“This way, the State Government allocates resources to protect the historical and cultural heritage of Guanajuato. In addition to beautifying the facilities, it gives our State a greater tourist attraction”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.

Rodríguez Vallejo recognized this Association made up of qualified experts in our historical heritage, represented by its General Director, Luis Antonio Rodriguez del Moral. “Our gratitude, as well as for those who guard, care for and are in charge every day, of keeping these temples in conditions for the visit of the faithful”, said the Governor.
The Governor announced that in the city of Guanajuato the Glorieta de Santa Fe is being remodeled and it is estimated to be ready by next August.
