Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, announced the 17th edition of the World Rally Championship (WRC) in the Mexico stage that will be held in Guanajuato, Silao and Leon.
“For guanajuatenses it has been a success story because this event has been consolidated and the style we Mexicans add to it is like no other in any country, this edition 17 has a very special carisma because new generations come to the event, besides we will have a Street Stage in Leon and of course, we will have the stage in the streets and tunnels of Guanajuato”, said the Governor.
“Guanajuato is ready to receive the Rally and it is a safe State where visitors will count with security, emergency and health services”, he said. “Guanajuato is a State that gives good news to Mexico, Guanajuato is a trend and it is open to receive everyone”, said the State Governor.
A difficult competition
The World Rally Championship is considered as one of the most difficult automobile championships in the world and it will be held from March 12th through the 15th of this year on dirt roads around Leon, Guanajuato and Silao, the competition will be in three oficial categories WRC, WRC2 and WRC3.
Gilles Spitalier Martel, General Director of the Rally Guanajuato, said that they are looking for new values in rallies in Mexico, with pilots that represent the States of Mexico in a new competition in the RallyMex that will present 5 Renault Clio 5 cars for the States Cup.
The WRC has 14 dates, Mexico is the third and this year it has something new, the Street Stage in Leon, which will be run on March Friday the 13th from Templo Expiatorio to the Arch of the Calzada.
ETAPAS, HORARIOS Y MAPAS
In this edition, organizers expect to have 570,000 visitors, 4% more than in 2019 and expenses in the cities for 761 million pesos; during the days of the event they expect a hotel occupancy of 59% with 22,715 hotel rooms rented, which is an increase of 2% compared to last year.
The WRC is an opportunity to show Guanajuato to the world since it is estimated that the competence is broadcast via TV to more than 160 countries, and the estimate is that more than 1,400 million people will know a part of the Tourist Greatness of Guanajuato.
