Being a State that promotes the growth of Industry 4.0, which is competitive, and which attracts foreign investment in the highest levels of advanced manufacturing, Guanajuato “was the natural and logical destination to hold an event like the Hannover Messe”, said Bernd Rohde Oberheide, director of Hannover Messe.
In the National Congress of the Meeting Industry (CNIR), in its XXVIII edition, the Panel “Hannover Messe Success Story” was held with the participation of Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato; Bernd Rohde Oberheide, director of Hannover Messe; Alejandro Hernandez Fonseca, Undersecretary of Economic and Sustainable Development; and Jazmin Quiroz Lopez, director of Tourism and Hospitality of Leon.
In the panel they explained why Hannover Messe, the most important Technology Fair in Mexico, chose Leon, Guanajuato, as its venue and signed a 10-year agreement with the Government of Guanajuato to be held every year at Poliforum Leon, unique complex in Mexico with 67 hectares and 10 premises for events.
Deutsche Messe, a company with a portfolio of 113 fairs around the world dedicated to sectors of future technologies, capital goods, human resources and consumer goods, including Hannover Messe, was founded in 1947 as a reactivation strategy economy in Germany after World War II.
“Planning in Guanajuato has been relevant and the collaborative work of society, private initiative, government and municipality, has landed with one of the most renowned companies, particularly industrial,” said the Secretary of Tourism applauded during the panel.
In the last 20 years, “we see the development that Guanajuato has had, it went from being a very basic agricultural State to being a powerhouse of Industry 4.0. Another key element to get here was the dedication and focus of the State Government, it is an example in Mexico of how things can be done”, Bernd Rohde stressed.
In terms of advanced manufacturing and digitization, “Guanajuato is one of the country’s great players along with Nuevo Leon and Jalisco; and it is in the main axis of exports between Mexico City and Nuevo Laredo, and in that sense the decision was very clear (to bring Hannover to Leon)”, added the director of Hannover Messe.
Another success factor is the infrastructure, connectivity, geographical location of the State, hotel and gastronomic offer.
Undersecretary Hernandez Fonseca explained that “the Poliforum area is located in a complex close to the Museum of Art and History of Guanajuato, a Public Library, the Bicentennial Theater -the most modern in Latin America-, and next to the largest fair complex (in infrastructure) in all of Mexico.”
Within walking distance, he said, “we have a chain of hotels, restaurants, and amenities that make Leon special. The events sector detonates an important part of the economic activity, for this reason we consider that joint work must direct the transversal strategy”, highlighted the undersecretary.
