With 1.1 million insured workers, Guanajuato ranks 4th in the nation in job creation
The State added 13,000 new jobs in the last year, representing an increase of 1.2%

Guanajuato reaffirms its position as one of Mexico’s economic engines by consolidating the creation and preservation of formal jobs, according to the most recent data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) as of April 2025.

The State registered 1,125,796 insured workers, a figure that places it as the sixth State with the highest number of insured workers in Mexico and the fifth in terms of beneficiaries.

In April, Guanajuato reported a positive monthly increase, ranking ninth in the nation for this indicator. On an annual basis, the Sate added 13,056 new jobs, representing a 1.2% increase and ranking fourth in the nation for formal job creation.
The People’s Government, led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, is promoting an economic policy to maintain its position as Mexico’s fifth-largest economy, focused on job creation and preservation.

According to Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, head of the Secretary of Economy, the dynamic labor market in Guanajuato is reflected in the growth of key sectors for prosperity.
The sectors that registered a positive impact were:
- Business, personal, and household services
- Transportation and commerce
- The primary sector and social services
- Industries such as furniture made of wood, chemicals, metal products, food, and household appliances

This diversification is the result of public policies to strengthen prosperity ecosystems and attract investment in high-tech areas, such as:
- Automotive and auto parts (focused on electromobility), new technologies, medical devices, and other
Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) have been key to the creation of jobs, supported by state programs that improve the quality of life of Guanajuatense families.

Furthermore, to strengthen employment, training, certification, and micro-credentials are being promoted, as well as job placement through digital platforms and education assistance and relevance centers to reduce the gap between industrial demand and academic offerings.
The State Government, in coordination with the private sector, reaffirms its commitment to formal and quality employment, guaranteeing greater protection and access to social security for workers.

Through the Secretary of Economy, the People’s Government reaffirms its ability to adapt to national and international challenges, consolidating Guanajuato as an attractive destination for investment and productive development.
