“The State of Guanajuato is making progress in security matters, with coordination, information, and intelligence. This government is working tirelessly and redoubling its efforts to restore peace,” said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo during the broadcast of the program Connecting with the People.

With Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato, as a guest, the State Executive said that the positive results achieved in the State are possible thanks to the coordination with federal authorities and the State’s CONFIA strategy.
“There are issues that don’t allow for party bias or division of political opinion. Here, we work together to deliver results for our people, and without hesitation, we are on the right path, we are delivering results,” said the Governor.

Guanajuato is making steady progress in reducing homicides. The state hadn’t seen in many years a decrease in high-impact crimes like the one we’re experiencing. Although we still have a lot of work ahead of us, this commits us to redoubling our efforts to continue generating positive results, the Governor said.
From the C5i facilities, in Guanajuato’s Puerto Interior, the Governor highlighted the state’s technology, which allows for monitoring security and emergency issues, in addition to the implementation of actions and programs derived from the CONFIA strategy.

This strategy includes, among other elements, the division of the State into ten regions for better service; the creation of an Operational Intelligence Undersecretary for information processing; and the creation of the Anti-Extortion Squad, which assists victims of this crime without the need to file a complaint.
Regarding coordination, Libia Dennise mentioned that they are working closely with federal authorities, as demonstrated by recent meetings with the heads of the National Guard (GN), the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, the National Intelligence Center (CNI), and the Ministry of Defense (Defense).

“From the agreements we had in the Federal Security Cabinet, which I attended with the President of Mexico, there is an expressed recognition of the work being done in Guanajuato and confidence in what we are doing,” said the Governor of the People.
As an example of the effective coordination between the Government of Guanajuato and the Federal Government, the Governor explained that operations carried out by federal forces have been derived from intelligence information developed in Guanajuato.
In this episode of Connecting with the People, we discussed the Fortaleza Guanajuato program, implemented by the Secretary of Security and Peace in coordination with federal authorities. This program consists of the installation of seven permanent checkpoints to secure the State’s borders.

The permanent surveillance and coordination points are installed in the municipalities of Ocampo, San Diego de la Union, Apaseo el Alto, Apaseo el Grande, Moroleon, Penjamo, Purisima del Rincon, and Cerro Gordo, and are attended by personnel from all three levels of government.
“We are putting all our efforts into working for peace in Guanajuato, because there are more of us good people and righteous people. Let it be clear that they will not win this battle. We will continue working with strength and determination,” said Libia Dennise.
