The state of Guanajuato reduces intentional homicides above the national average. In 2023 the state decrease is 4.79 percent and at the national level it is 4.18

According to the Executive Secretary of the National Public Security System, Guanajuato is the State in Mexico that, during the last year, presents a reduction in intentional homicides of 4.79 percent, while in Mexico the decrease is 4.18 percent.
Starting in 2020, the state of Guanajuato began to show an important trend in the reduction of intentional homicides, with 2021 being the year in which the reduction in this crime was 21.69 percent compared to 2020. In Mexico, that decrease was 3.59.
In the highest peak of this administration that corresponded to the month of January 2020 (462 intentional homicides), with the month of December 2023 (229 intentional homicides) the decrease is at 50.43%.
This downward trend in intentional homicides in Guanajuato reflects the commitment and coordinated work that the State Government maintains with the authorities of all levels of government, for the construction of better conditions of peace and tranquility, firmly combating violence and crime.
