The Government of the People reaffirms its commitment to restoring peace for Guanajuatense families with a strategy based on coordination, intelligence, and investigation, said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, during the meeting with President of Mexico and the Security Cabinet at the National Palace.
The Governor of the People presented the positive results of the CONFIA security strategy and announced that it had been agreed to carry out more operations and targeted actions in Guanajuato.
“It was a reunion where we continued evaluating the strategy and where we came to present the results from Guanajuato, above all, to confirm that our CONFIA security strategy is yielding positive results, with the decrease in crime, primarily homicide,” said the Governor.
“We are strengthening intelligence work through the C4 and C5i units. We have been training National Guard personnel in Guanajuato, who are currently stationed at the C4 units in different municipalities. We will be deploying operational tasks and, of course, intelligence work that has allowed us to arrest perpetrators of violence,” said Libia Dennise.
At this meeting, the State Governor was accompanied by the Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato, Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, and the State Attorney General, Gerardo Vazquez Alatriste.
“We will continue to strengthen police operational deployment and strengthen investigation and intelligence,” said the Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato.
The head of the State Attorney General’s Office spoke about the importance of this meeting, which allows for the consolidation of collaborative work with the Federal Government. “This visit allows us to strengthen our relationship with the Federation and ensure that this strong work, which is taking place, continues to be consolidated on a permanent basis,” said Vazquez Alatriste.
On November 4, 2024, Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo and Secretary Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martínez presented the CONFIA strategy: Operational Coordination of the New Anti-Crime Intelligence Force.
This strategy consists of 10 pillars, among them:
- Regionalization of security into 10 zones, adapting strategies to the specific needs of each location
- Strengthening the State Intelligence Center and creating the Undersecretary of Operational Intelligence
- Creation of the Anti-Extortion Squad
- New divisions to protect women, journalists, and human rights defenders
- Citizen Engagement as a Cornerstone of Security
- By March 2025, CONFIA had achieved:
- 45% reduction in homicides (week of March 17-23)
- 534,878 seizures
- 264 arrests
- 13,108 drug doses seized
- 319,070 liters of hydrocarbons recovered
“We will continue working as a team. Today we agreed on concrete actions and operations in the State. We will continue working for Guanajuato and in coordination with the Federal Government and our municipalities,” said Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.
