COFOCE presents the update of the export figures from Guanajuato for the first semester of 2022

Exports in Guanajuato began the year with a historical figure of more than 7 billion dollars, in the first quarter of 2022. This growth in exports from Guanajuato continues in the January period until June 2022, informed the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade ( COFOCE ) as it announced the new figures that correspond to the semester of the current year, which achieved an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period in 2021.
According to figures updated by the INEGI, this 12.5% growth corresponds to the period from January-June 2022, and Guanajuato managed to export the figure of 15,086 million dollars, which makes the state continue in the sixth position among the exporting States of Mexico, and the first place in terms of States without borders with other countries.
Guanajuato managed to reach more than 140 international destinations to deliver its products and services, in addition to having 35 exporting municipalities that generate more than 160,000 jobs for Guanajuato.
Also, in terms of exports from the agro-food sector, we continue to be the number one State with more than 866 million dollars, which reached an increase of 13% compared to the same period of last year. This industry represents 6% of the total exports of Guanajuato.
“Exports, in the period from January to June 2022, have grown by 12.5%, above the historical maximum and managing to exceed the historical maximum of last year. Guanajuato contributes 6% of Mexico’s exports and ranks first as a non-cross-border exporting state”, said Luis Ernesto Rojas Avila, General Director of COFOCE.
Currently, we reach more than 140 destinations and generate more than 160,000 jobs. This work has been achieved thanks to the entire economic axis of the State, the business community and the Governor of Guanajuato”, said Rojas Avila.
In this first semester of 2022, Guanajuato’s exports registered that the sectors with the highest growth from January to June 2022 were:
- Machinery and equipment for industries in general with 100%
- Textile supplies and finishes with 64%
- Basic metal industries with 55%
“There are very good expectations of breaking the historical figure record of last year, when we had close to 27 thousand million dollars, the numbers are very encouraging”, said Rojas Avila.
“We see with a good perspective the future that comes in the coming months and in the coming years in terms of Foreign Trade”, said the Director of COFOCE.
The companies from Guanajuato can continue to take advantage of the opportunities in Guanajuato and that for a non-border region, has had an exponential growth in Foreign Trade and exports.
