The Guanajuato Health Secretary, in coordination with other Health sector institutions in the State, administered 541,064 Covid 19 vaccines in the current winter vaccination campaign.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcale, reported that the Health Sector of Guanajuato continues to strengthen prevention and protection actions against the disease known as Covid 19, through the application of vaccines in different public institutions of the State.
The coordinated work between health agencies, exceeded the programmed goal during the most recent vaccination campaign, achieving a higher coverage than planned and reinforcing the protection of the Guanajuatense population.
For the current winter vaccination campaign, the State agencyadministered 336,133 vaccines, representing a 107 percent progress.
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) registered a goal of 168,879 doses and has administered 163,592, reaching 97 percent compliance.
Meanwhile, the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) exceeded its goal by administering 34,844 doses compared to an initial target of 32,179, which is equivalent to an advance of 108 percent.
PEMEX medical services reported the application of 5,045 doses out of a total programmed 6,201.
Overall, the Health Sector aimed to administer 522,159 doses against Covid 19, ultimately reaching 541,064 applications, representing an overall progress of 104 percent.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reiterates its call to the population to maintain preventive measures such as:
- Frequent hand washing, ventilation of enclosed spaces, the use of face masks in case of respiratory symptoms, and get vaccinated when appropriate, in order to continue protecting the health of Guanajuatenses
Covid 19 is a respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which can cause symptoms ranging from a mild cold to severe complications, especially in older adults or those with chronic illnesses.
The most common symptoms include:
- Fever, cough, sore throat, tiredness, nasal congestion, and, in some cases, difficulty breathing
Vaccination remains one of the most effective tools for preventing severe forms of the disease, hospitalizations, and deaths. Therefore, health sector institutions maintain ongoing campaigns to bring vaccines closer to the population, particularly to high-risk groups, to reduce virus transmission and protect public health.
