Guanajuato/Gto News
The Secretary of Human Rights -SDH- of the Government of the State of Guanajuato reports that, in light of the damage caused by Hurricane Helen in the states of Georgia and Florida in the United States, “We remain in contact with the Mexican consular network in the United States to provide assistance to Guanajuatenses who require support”.
The directions of Governor Libia Denisse Garcia Munoz Ledo are to safeguard the integrity of the people of Guanajuato, regardless of their place of residence. We will therefore continue to work together with the corresponding authorities to be a government close to its people, even beyond the borders.
It is estimated that 23 thousand people from Guanajuato live in Florida, while 32 thousand people from Guanajuato live in Georgia.
Likewise, through the Liaison Office the Guanajuato Government has in the city of Atlanta, Georgia, Officials do a permanent monitoring to verify that the community of Guanajuatense residents living in the area is well and, in case they require any type of support, manage it with the corresponding institutions.
Also officials maintain contact with migrant clubs in Georgia and Florida to address any needs that these groups may identify.
