On the twelfth anniversary of the twinning and cultural and education exchange by the State of Guanajuato and the prefecture of Hiroshima, Japan, 10 high school students from the Asian country were welcomed.

For six days, the Japanese youth will tour the cities of Guanajuato, Leon, and Dolores Hidalgo, participating in activities that promote cultural understanding, intercultural dialogue, and the strengthening of relations of the two communities. On their first day, the guests visited the Alhondiga de Granaditas and the Iconographic Museum of Don Quixote in Guanajuato City.

The Youth Exchange Program, carried out as part of this twinning, includes education, cultural, and social integration activities in various municipalities.

“We are very proud to have you in Guanajuato. We are celebrating 12 years of collaboration with Japan and are delighted to have you here. I would like to thank our friend Takero Aoyama, Consul General of Japan in Leon, for maintaining this close relationship and for continuing to welcome students who will experience the multicultural nature of Guanajuato. Our State, in addition to being a hub for economic development, is also a territory with great culture and traditions. I invite you to enjoy your stay and bring a little piece of Guanajuato back to your hometown,” said the Undersecretary of Secondary and Higher Education, Aldelmo Emmanuel Israel Reyes Pablo.

“This exchange not only opens doors to academic learning, but also strengthens friendship and mutual understanding. We reaffirm our commitment to promote the international education of our youth,” said the Consul of Japan in Leon, Takero Aoyama.

The official reception took place at the headquarters of the National College of Technical Professional Education (CONALEP) Guanajuato, at Puerto Interior, where its general director, Nicolas Gutierrez Ortega, noted the institution’s work in the technological field and its local, national, and international recognition.

On behalf of the delegation of visitors, Erick Ceballos Leyva expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome: “It’s a pleasure to be back in a State full of tradition and history. It will be an unforgettable experience for the girls and boys, thanks to this joint effort by our authorities.”
