Guanajuato reaffirms its position as one of the best consolidated states in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) segment with the realization of the 8th Latin American Congress ALGIA 2026, an academic and scientific meeting that projects the entity as a venue for specialized events of international scope that was held in León.
The MICE segment is one of the priority axes of the State Tourism Plan 2025–2030, aligned with the vision of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, who has promoted a competitive, sustainable tourism model with social impact.
On behalf of the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, the Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion, Armando Emmanuel Gasca, recognized the organizing committee, authorities and participants, highlighting the strategic importance of meetings tourism for the economic development of Guanajuato.
Leon is consolidating itself as a central hub of a meetings tourism corridor made up of six strategic destinations in the State:
- Leon, Guanajuato, Irapuato, Celaya, San Miguel de Allende and Silao
This collaboration allows the attraction of congresses, conventions, exhibitions and specialized events that strengthen Guanajuato’s national and international competitiveness, generating a solid network of infrastructure, connectivity and professionalization of the sector.
Meetings tourism is a direct driver of economic development. Events like the Latin American Congress ALGIA generate hotel room nights, restaurant spending, transportation services, contracts with specialized suppliers, and boost local businesses.
