The Government of Guanajuato continues to strengthen the municipal police with the delivery of equipment for 71.1 million pesos for the security forces of 16 municipalities in Region 2.
The Executive Secretary of the State Public Security System, Sophia Huett Lopez, on behalf of the State Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, presided over this ceremony whith the presence of corporations of:
- Celaya, Cortazar, Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, and Jaral del Progress, Moroleon, Salamanca, Salvatierra, San Diego de la Union, San Felipe, Juventino Rosas, Santiago Maravatío, Uriangato, Valle de Santiago, Villagran and Yuriria
Sophia Huett explained that 8 6-cylinder pick-up units were delivered today; 25 4-cylinder; and 12 motorcycles, with which surveillance and patrol work is strengthened.
Other equipment and gear delivered were 196 vests; 124 ballistic helmets and 274 trimmings, which offer better protection to the elements in the performance of their duties.
Also delivered were 220 portable communication equipment, which reinforce the response capacity and coordination between institutions.
In these 16 municipalities a great effort has been made to increase professionalization. In 2022, more than 4,500 training services were provided so that their police officers are better prepared.
“Security is generated from the local, therefore the commitment of the State Government is to strengthen our municipal police forces,” noted Sophia Huett.
With this delivery, the 2022 financial year of the State Fund for the Strengthening of Municipal Public Security is closing. To this fund, which was formed at the beginning of the current administration more than 1 billion pesos have been allocated.
Huett said that in the five years of the exercise of the State Fund, with one 100% State resources, 563 pick-up trucks of various characteristics, 305 motorcycles, 1,885 ballistic helmets, 2,283 vests, in addition to riot equipment, shields, bicycles and ATVs have been delivered.
“In terms of professionalization, 41,749 training courses have been given in different subjects”, said Huett.
