With readings aloud, talks, exhibits and storytelling performances, the 184 municipal public libraries of Guanajuato joined the commemoration of World Book and Copyright Day this April 23.
The reading communities in the libraries that are members of the network coordinated by the State Institute of Culture enthusiastically joined this event, presenting a wide variety of activities for all ages and tastes, encouraging a taste for reading and culture in general.
One of the notable initiatives was the organization of reading of stories and fragments of emblematic literary works, both for children and adults. These readings not only sought to entertain, but also to encourage an appreciation of literature in all its forms.
In several libraries located in different regions of Guanajuato, talks were held on topics related to the importance of reading in daily life, as well as reading comprehension contests.
The book exhibits were another highlight of the celebrations, highlighting significant works from the collections of each library, written by local, national and international authors of various literary genres and styles.
This celebration also highlighted the participation of storytellers such as Laura Casillas and Sara Zepeda, who shared captivating stories with the public and filled the venues with magic.
