Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, delivered police equipment to 12 municipalities, thereby strengthening operational capacity and surveillance and patrol work.
“Strong Municipal Police make strong municipalities, so security is built from the local level and this is also very important. Believing that Federal or State forces are going to come to solve a problem of insecurity in the municipality is one of the most common mistakes”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“That is why one of the first decisions we made was how we strengthen our Municipal Police and the resources are very important, but also solidarity with the Mayors and Municipalities. We decided to bet on this and we created a fund with State resources and with this we have already delivered one billion for the Municipal Police in my administration”, said the Governor.
The equipment delivered:
- 17 6-cylinder pick-up units
- 36 4-cylinder units
- 23 motorcycles
- 136 vests
- 51 ballistic helmets
- 206 trimmings
- 104 portable communication equipment
- 81.6 million pesos were invested
The delivery of equipment has been divided into three regions:
- East (1), Center (2) and West (3)
The municipalities considered in the Eastern Region are:
- Ocampo, Leon, Silao, Romita, San Francisco del Rincon, Purisima del Rincon, Cueramaro, Penjamo, Abasolo, Huanimaro, Irapuato and Pueblo Nuevo
Also in these 12 municipalities a great effort has been made to increase professionalization. In 2022, 3,465 services and professionalization actions were provided, so that the municipal police can better fulfill their duties.
In the coming days, police equipment will be delivered to the Central (2) and Western (3) regions, in compliance with the Decalogue for Security, which brings together the main commitments of the State Government in terms of security.
The 2022 State Fund had an investment of 200 million pesos and benefited 43 state municipalities (Coroneo, Manuel Doblado and Tarandacuao declined to be beneficiaries of the Fund), which were favored with equipment and professionalization services aimed at members of their municipal security corporations.
The support of the State Government for the municipal corporations during the present administration, adds up to 1 billion pesos in equipment and professionalization.
Present at the delivery of police equipment were Sophia Huett Lopez, Executive Secretary of the State Public Security System; Alvar Cabeza de Vaca Appendini, State Secretary of Public Security; Carlos Zamarripa Aguirre, State Attorney General; and Rosa Medina Rodriguez, President of the Supreme Judicial Power of Guanajuato.
