Tickets are already on sale and the new route will begin operations on June 1, 2026

The El Bajio International Airport will have a new air route directly connecting Guanajuato with the city of Puebla, operated by Volaris, strengthening connectivity between two of the most important economic zones of Mexico and expanding opportunities for tourism, commerce and business development.

The Guanajuato State Government’s Secretary of Tourism and Identity is promoting greater connectivity under the instructions of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, who has the vision to generate more development opportunities for the entire tourism sector and its communities.

Ticket sales started on February 3, and the new route will begin operations on June 1, 2026.
The new Bajio–Puebla air route will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The Puebla–Bajio flight will depart at 7:00 p.m. and arrive at 8:12 p.m., while the Bajio–Puebla flight will depart at 8:45 p.m. and arrive at 9:54 p.m.
“The new air route with Volaris Bajio–Puebla strengthens Guanajuato’s connectivity and is fully aligned with the State Tourism Program, because opening flights means opening opportunities, opening markets, and opening new paths for more visitors to reach our communities,” said the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon.

“Today, Guanajuato opens its doors to the world with a clear vision of development and well-being for its people,” said Robles.
Robles highlighted that this new air connection is fully aligned with the development vision of the People’s Government and with the objectives of the State Tourism Program, and underlined the importance of the aeronautical sector’s trust in the State.

“Volaris’s alliance and trust in Guanajuato confirm that our State is a solid and competitive destination. This collaboration strengthens the Bajio Airport as a strategic international hub, that makes it posible to attract more visitors, generate a greater economic benefits, and ensure that the advantages of tourism directly impact Guanajuatense families and communities,” said Robles Leon.

Holger Blankenstein, Executive Vice President of Volaris, noted that the opening of this route is part of the airline’s strategy to expand travel options in markets with high economic activity.
“Expanding routes is part of our strategy to offer more travel options in markets with high economic activity. Volaris is opening this connection between El Bajío and Puebla to boost regional and national development,” the vice president said.
