This August 26, 1 million 220 thousand basic education students return to the classrooms in schools in Guanajuato

On August 29, 1 million 220 thousand basic education students will return to the classrooms of schools in Guanajuato, students will be served by more than 55 thousand teachers in 10 thousand 374 schools.

The Secretary of Education of Guanajuato -SEG- is preparing to adopt key strategies, such as the generalization of the Fundamental Learning policy in all primary schools, focusing on reading, mathematics and socio-emotional development.

The 2024-2025 school year also contemplates the monitoring of the Social Pact for Education, aimed to the recovery of education, and the “Peaceful School Coexistence” strategy to ensure a safe and harmonious environment. In addition, the SEG, in collaboration with the World Bank, will promote Initial Education, supported by a new legal framework and professionalization programs for education personnel.

The school calendar, which begins on August 29 and ends on July 15, 2025, includes 190 days of classes, 13 sessions of the School Technical Council and two vacation periods:

• December 23, 2024 to January 7, 2025
• April 14 to 25, 2025

In addition, various activities will be carried out to strengthen education, such as School Week for Peace, Reading Promotion Week and School Permanence Week.

For the third consecutive year, the State government will provide free school kits to public primary school students.

Prior to the start of the school year, the education staff participated in the intensive phase of the School Technical Council prior to the start of the cycle, a training day, focused on school permanence, the strengthening of fundamental learning and the supervisory function.

Finally, this week cleaning and preparation actions will be carried out in the schools, in collaboration with the Participatory School Health Committees, to receive the students on the first day of school in an orderly and pleasant manner.
