The Government of the People, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, performs a working and tourism promotion tour of Asia that brings the identity, culture, and wealth of Guanajuato to Japan and China from September 22 to 26, as part of the strategy to consolidate the State as a world-class destination.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, emphasized that this mission represents a fundamental step in Guanajuato’s internationalization policy, strengthening ties with two of Guanajuato’s most important markets of origin of tourists and visitors. “Japan is currently our fourth-largest international market with 155,000 visitors, and China ranks sixth with 97,496 tourists. We will strengthen these ties with an intense work agenda that will directly benefit the people of Guanajuato.”

From September 23rd to 24th, Guanajuato participated with its own stand at the JATA Fair, the most important tourism event in the Asia-Pacific region, where it showcased the best of its tourism offer. The Guanajuato delegation, comprised of businesspeople, entrepreneurs, and officials from San Miguel de Allende, Salamanca, Guanajuato City, and San Francisco del Rincon, promoted the six Magical Towns, two World Heritage Cities, five Archaeological Sites, and its strength in business tourism.

From September 24th to 26th, for the first time in coordination with the federal Secretary of Tourism, Guanajuato participated in the Mexico Tourism Fair in Beijing, China. Here, the delegation led by Lupita Robles focused on scheduling meetings with tour operators and airlines, promoting air connectivity leading up to the 2026 World Cup.

The tour included 18 meetings plus two large-scale events, with a five-day technical agenda that directly benefits the participating municipalities. “Each international promotion opens doors to new investments and more development opportunities. Tourism is a driving force of well-being for all Guanajuato residents,” said Robles Leon.

“It has been a lot of work, but also satisfaction of paving a solid path toward a future-oriented bilateral relationship. Guanajuato is opening up to the world, showcasing our beauty, culture, and traditions, because our identity is a source of pride and a driving force for development,” said the head of SECTURI.
