As part of the strategic vision of the People’s Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise, through the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Lupita Robles Leon, the State of Guanajuato continues to strongly reinforce the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) segment, consolidating itself as one of Mexico’s main strategic destinations for the national and international meetings and events industry.
The Guanajuato State Tourism and Identity Secretary promotes a modern, competitive, and identity-driven tourism policy that recognizes meetings tourism as a key driver for economic development, attracting investment, generating jobs, and enhancing the State’s international profile.
Guanajuato will host the FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit 2026, one of the most important MICE industry events in Latin America, which will take place in Leon.
The FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit, organized by FIEXPO Exhibitions Group, is a high-level event that promotes the professionalization and strategic development of the meetings industry in the region.
For the 2026 edition, Leon, Guanajuato, is slated to host the event, with estimated dates from March 17-20.
One of the event’s central pillars is its specialized academic program, developed in collaboration with ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), which includes training sessions led by ICCA’s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. This training strengthens the capabilities of all members of the destination’s value chain, aligning Guanajuato with global MICE industry standards and trends.
In terms of scope, the FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit will feature 40 local exhibitors, 40 carefully selected international buyers, and over 800 business meetings, guaranteeing a tangible and measurable return for the host destinations.
The buyers are decision-makers from international associations, incentive houses, and corporate meeting and event planners, selected according to rigorous criteria to ensure a high conversion potential.
Guanajuato has a successful track record in hosting these type of events. In 2023, the FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit was held in Guanajuato City; while in 2024 it was held in Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende, with the participation of hosted buyers from various Latin American countries and suppliers from different municipalities in Guanajuato.
These events demonstrated the State’s capacity to host high-level events, as well as the strength of its infrastructure, services, and local talent.
Under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise, Guanajuato is promoting a clear strategy to position the state’s six MICE destinations (Leon, Silao, Guanajuato City, San Miguel de Allende, Irapuato, and Celaya) as competitive, reliable, and with a distinct identity, capable of attracting international events that generate economic benefits and direct advantages for the local population.
