Guanajuato shows a 59% decrease in dengue cases compared to 2024.

In the State, 3,295 cases had been recorded by the same point this year. Currently, of the 1,364 total cases this year, only 41 are active, reported the Secretary of Health, Gabriel Cortes Alcala.
The Secretary, urges Guanajuatenses to keep patios and rooftops free of containers that accumulate water, cover tanks, and constantly check flower vases, buckets, or tires that may favor mosquito breeding.

Thanks to the commitment of the citizens and the coordinated work by the different levels of Government, in the State the prevention of dengue continues to be strengthened, demonstrating that health and well-being are built by everyone.
Cortes Alcala pointed out that the best solution is still “Turn over, Wash, Cover and Throw away” to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.

Cortes explained that historically Guanajuato has had several dengue outbreaks, in 2007, 2017, 2023, with the circulation of several serotypes, which forces the Health System to have a change in the reaction and diagnostic process for timely care.
Warning signs that require a visit to the nearest People’s Health Center include:
- Persistent abdominal pain
- Repeated vomiting
- Bleeding from the nose and gums
- Possibly some difficulty breathing
- Bruises on the body

Guanajuato has a complete medical infrastructure and human resources to cope with the increase in cases.
Although 90 percent of cases receive outpatient care, it is necessary not to let our guard down regarding warning symptoms.
