Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, inaugurated the 2024 Wine Week in Guanajuato, which is held from June 4 to 9 to promote the wine culture of the region.
The Brussels World Competition -CMB-, the 2nd edition of Vive el Vino, and the 3rd edition of the Wine Congress will also be held during the event.
“It will be an intense week of activities that positions the wine of our beloved Mexico in the eyes of the world; an event that will turn our beloved city of Leon into the world capital of wine”, said Diego Sinhue.
“It is a reason for Guanajuato to shine in the world as an international wine spot”, said the Governor.
These activities promote the quality of Guanajuatense wines and the culture of this product among locals and visitors.
It also promotes wine tourism, increases the trade of Guanajuatense wines and strengthens regional identity, as it highlights the wine production and its contribution to the national panorama.
The Wine Week 2024:
- 54 countries are participating
- 450 international judges
- 62 are Mexican
- International specialists will analyze more than 7,500 labels from the best wineries and vineyards of all the world
- 671 registered wines are Mexican
- 117 wines are from Guanajuato
“This event will support the projection of our country and its great tourist offer will be disseminated; it will also be a showcase for our national wine industry,” said the Governor.
During the Wine Week the 3rd State Wine Congress will be held, where knowledge will be shared and the future of the industry will be planned, with conferences on new technologies and consumer trends, among other topics.
This congress, organized by the Guanajuato Grape and Wine Association, is with the objective of training local wine producers on wine production, new trends, alternatives, good practices and use of technologies in other wine regions of the world.
It will also be the second edition of Vive el Vino 2023, where tastings from more than twenty wineries, workshops and tastings will be offered, some of them with pairings, dance and live music, such as the concert with Filippa Giordano and Daniel Boaventura
And for the first time in America, organizers will try to establish the Guinness Record for the largest wine glass in the world.
It will be a week of great activity that will attract all wine-growing eyes to Guanajuato from June 4 to 9.
Present in the inauguration of Wine Week were the president of the Brussels World Competition, Baudouin Havaux; the national president of the Mexican Wine Council, Salomon Abredop; the president of the Guanajuato Grape and Wine Association, Elias Torres Barrera; from the Italian German Exhibition Company Mexico, Bernd Rohde, and the director of Vive el Vino Ana Maria Arias.
