Governor Diego Sinhue recognized the custody staff of the Guanajuato State Penitentiary System as the best in Mexico, for their professionalism and training

The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, led the commemorative ceremony for Custodian’s Day, whom he recognized for their role in the 11 Prevention and Social Reintegration Centers of the Penitentiary System attached to the State Secretary of Public Security.
“I want to give public recognition to all the custody personnel of the Penitentiary System of Guanajuato. I am very proud to see the best Penitentiary System in all of Mexico, so congratulations and my recognition to all of you”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“You have come a long way to reach the level that Guanajuato has achieved in its Penitentiary System; There are three things that are very important, the first is the equipment; second, training; and the third, their salaries, because there is no other state where the custodians earn the same as you do here in Guanajuato, for all that, thank you for your vocation for service and your brilliant work”, said the Governor.
The Governor said that in Guanajuato, effective social reintegration is favored so that each person who went through the Penitentiary System can fully reintegrate and resume their life project in the community.
Currently, in Guanajuato, the Custodian Police are the best paid in the country with 27,671 pesos; in addition, they have been provided with gear and training, with courses abroad through the United States Embassy in Mexico and the International Office of Anti-Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
Correctional staff meets the American Correctional Association (ACA) Certification with the highest quality standards. By also certifying the General Directorate of the System, the Golden Eagle Award for excellence continues to be maintained.
Recognitions were presented rewarding:
- Institutional Belonging to personnel with 5 to 9 years of service
- Institutional loyalty to personnel with 10 to 14 years of service
- Perseverance in Service to personnel with 15 to 19 years of service
Also recognized were:
- The First War Band of the System
- First Flag Escort of the Penitentiary System
- First Group of State Penitentiary Operations (GOPE)
The Governor presented recognitions to:
- Outstanding Actions in Service
- Penitentiary Security Coordinators with more than 15 years of service; Administrative Personnel with more than 15 years of service
- Recognition to the High Command
