Guanajuato has positioned itself as one of the states that contributes most to the growth of Meeting Tourism through a multisectoral strategy aligned with industrial and productive clusters.

Guanajuato’s six MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism destinations, Leon, Guanajuato City, San Miguel de Allende, Celaya, Irapuato, and Silao, have 10 specialized venues and a robust infrastructure that allows for the organization of world-class fairs, congresses, exhibitions, and conventions.

“Guanajuato has always been in the top five in Mexico’s meetings industry. We are accompanied by six destinations with great infrastructure and strength in this industry,” noted Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, Secretary of Tourism and Identity, while leading the Guanajuato delegation at IBTM Americas.
Internationally, Mexico ranks 27th in the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranking, with 136 international congresses reported.

Last year, the MICE + business + shopping segment in Guanajuato represented:
- 12.2% of visitors
- With 2 million 674 thousand people
- They generated a revenue of more than 6.317 billion pesos
- Shopping trips grew 10% in revenue and 5% in attendance

Each destination offers a unique vocation, for example:
- Leon, is the sixth-largest meeting destination in the country, hosts medical conferences, international exhibitions, and large-scale trade shows
- Guanajuato City, is a World Heritage City, it is ideal for conferences and conventions in a historic and cultural setting
- San Miguel de Allende, is a luxury destination for incentive trips and exclusive conventions
- Celaya, has a growing presence in conventions and sporting events, strengthened by its manufacturing and automotive industries
- Irapuato, which specializes in agrobusiness, automotive, and logistics events
- Silao, with the Guanajuato Bicentennial Park as a venue for fairs, concerts, and exhibitions

“What makes us unique and different is the service we, the people of Guanajuato, provide; we love welcoming visitors,” said Robles. The official also emphasized that the State’s tourism dynamic remains constantly evolving: “Not a week goes by without a festival, a grape harvest, a gastronomic exhibition, or a cultural event in one of Guanajuato’s 46 municipalities that strengthens our offer.”
