Guanajuato remains in the 5th place as an exporting State above Tamaulipas during the first quarter of 2024 and scores two consecutive quarters in that position according to INEGI figures

Guanajuato remained in the 5th place as an exporting state in Mexico, surpassing Tamaulipas.
According to official data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography -INEGI-, Guanajuato continues to be the national leader in exports of tanned products, manufacturing of leather products and substitute materials; the Guanajuatense plastic and rubber industry did great and recorded a historic quarter and for the first time it is in the first position, above Jalisco, which had been the national benchmark in the matter.
On the other hand, the most recent estimated figures from COFOCE reveal that from January to April 2024 there were 35 exporting municipalities, which as a whole achieved a figure above 13.8 million dollars, which represents 22.8 percent more than the same period of the immediately preceding year.
Guanajuato once again demonstrates that it is a fertile field for the internationalization of MSMEs, which represent the majority of the companies in the State’s export register with 79 percent. During the first quarter of 2024, there were 1,217 companies, not including the large ones that managed to bring more Guanajuato to the world, at this rate it is likely that by the end of 2024 the registry of more than 2 thousand exporting companies will once again be exceeded.
The behavior of the different sectors individually has been constantly growing, for the most part maintaining double-digit growth in almost all sectors, despite the exchange rate.
The industrial sector is the one that has grown the most in Guanajuato, the first four months of 2024 already registers 26.6 percent more export value compared to the same period of 2023, in second place is the agro-food sector with 936 million dollars in exports.
