Healthcare in Guanajuato is a priority for the People’s Government, therefore, through the Secretary of Public Works (SOP), works are being done in different regions of the State, to bring healthcare services to more people, through decent and functional premises.

Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo is promoting a comprehensive strategy to guarantee access to quality, local medical services for all.
“For the benefit of the northeastern region of the State, the Expanded Health Services Center (CESSA) is being built in Xichu, which will have an outpatient clinic, offices, observation space, and emergency care,” said Juan Pablo Perez Beltran, head of the SOP, who explained that a total investment of 84 million pesos was allocated for this project, benefiting more than 11,000 people.

In Leon, the former Comprehensive Care Center for Essential Health Services (CAISES) on Miguel Aleman Avenue is being replaced. This construction will include general medicine, preventive medicine, psychology, nutrition, early childhood stimulation, and dentistry offices, as well as general services and administrative offices. The investment is 116 million pesos, benefiting more than 34,000 residents.
Medical units are also being renovated in municipalities such as:
- Uriangato, with an investment of 89.7 million pesos
- Romita, with 26.4 million
- San Felipe, with 12.3 million
These initiatives will allow more people to receive medical care without having to travel from their hometowns.

Another notable project is the creation of a clinic dedicated to serving people of sexual diversity, an innovative project that positions Guanajuato as a pioneer in Mexico in offering health services with an inclusive and discrimination-free approach.
Likewise, progress is being made on executive projects such as the new building for the Radiotherapy Department of the Leon General Hospital, which will allow for specialized teletherapy and brachytherapy treatments for cancer care.

In addition, work is being done to replace the Primary Health Care Medical Units (UMAPS) in the towns of San Bartolome Aguas Calientes, in Apaseo el Alto, and Obrajuelos, in Apaseo el Grande.
The projects, financed with resources from the Guanajuato Health Secretary (SSG) and executed by the Secretary of Public Works, are part of the People’s Government’s commitment to reduce inequality gaps and ensure that everyone has access to quality medical services, regardless of their location, condition, or identity.
