In support of the corn producers of Celaya, the Ministry of Agriculture provided them with compensation for the crop losses they suffered in the last agricultural cycle due to the drought.
Marisol Suarez Correa, head of the State agency, led the event where she reminded attendees that the People’s Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, will maintain its support against this type of weather contingencies.
“You should trust that the People’s Government will always be with you and that we will continue to provide these supports to you and your families so that you can move forward,” said Marisol.
The Secretary explained that 141 producers were compensated today with a state investment of $542,850 pesos, which covered the losses of 362 hectares reported by the producers.
Representing the municipal president Juan Miguel Ramírez Sánchez, Valentín Sánchez Guerrero, director of Municipal Social Development, attended and said he was confident that there will be good collaboration between the State and the Municipality in favor of families in the countryside and rural areas of Celaya.
“It is a relief that the risk of drought has been addressed and that this catastrophic insurance coverage has been provided, so we are grateful to the Governor; we are willing to support and come to an agreement,” said the Director.
The support delivered was provided through the Agricultural Insurance Promotion Program of the Secretary of Agriculture, which has the purpose to counteract the effects of the climate by acquiring catastrophic insurance, so that in the event of an event, producers can be supported to restart their productive activities.
This year, the program covered:
- Loss of 12,105 hectares
- 4,889 heads of cattle reported by producers
- A State investment of $21,092,341 pesos
