Guanajuato/Gto News
Guanajuato consolidates its position as the State with the lowest rate of measles cases in Mexico. The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato stands out for administering over half a million vaccines against this disease.

In Guanajuato a total of 7 cases of measles have been registered this year, bringing the total to 11 since the start of the national health emergency in 2025.
This figure places Guanajuato last among federal states in the nation, in terms of the lowest number of registered measles cases.

Health Secretary Gabriel Cortes Alcala reported that the cases have been addressed promptly and under epidemiological surveillance, which has made it possible to maintain under control any new cases.
Currently, there are more than 300,000 doses available at Health Centers, and more vaccines continue to arrive to reinforce coverage. However, people are encouraged to review their vaccination schedules and, if necessary, go to the People’s Health Centers to complete the corresponding doses.

Immunization is the most effective way to prevent measles infection, with more than half a million doses administered against this disease in the People’s Health Centers, and in special campaigns such as the installation of macro vaccination centers.
Guanajuato maintains permanent epidemiological surveillance and continues to advance in protecting the population through universal vaccination.
The available measles vaccines are the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and MR (measles, rubella) vaccines. They are administered starting at six months of age with the zero dose, and subsequently at 12 and 18 months, as well as at 6 years of age.

People under 49 years of age who are unsure if they have been vaccinated can request the vaccine.
Additionally, those who will be traveling out of Guanajuato for the upcoming holiday period are urged to request the vaccine if they do not have complete vaccination schedules, in order to prevent infections in areas of high transmission.
