Horizontec lays the cornerstone of its new headquarters in Celaya
Celaya/Gto News
Horizontec has started the construction of its manufacturing plant in Celaya as the aerospace industry of Guanajuato becomes stronger, informed Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
The cornerstone
The Governor was at the ceremony where they laid the cornerstone of the premises of Horizontec in the hangar of the Celaya Airport, where the Halcon II aircraft will be manufactured. Rodriguez Vallejo noted that the aerospace industry of Guanajuato exported $5.8 million dollars in aeronautics products in 2020.
Producers in Guanajuato
The Governor said that Guanajuato produces parts and components for:
- Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Gulfstream.
The main products for export are:
- aircraft parts, turbo-reactors, turbo-propellants and gas turbines.
“COFOCE has informed that 330 companies in Mexico are focused in the aerospace sector and 80% of those companies are focused in manufacture”, said the Governor.
First in Guanajuato
Horizontec is known because it built the first plane made in Guanajuato: the two-seater Halcon 1 aircraft.
“The design and manufacture went through many challenges. A plane that in September 30th 2017 had its first flight and perfectly completed the testing program of certification to guarantee its reliability in the criteria of airworthiness”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
Certified
On March 4th 2020, the Halcon 1 was certified by the Civil Aviation Federal Agency –AFAC-.
“Once this was achieved, Horizontec now presents its first comercial product, the Halcon 2 aircraft”, noted the Governor.
It is a two-seater sports aircraft, and it is intended to be used in 3 types of missions:
- Basic training, to traing the next generation of pilots in Guanajuato
- Recreational flight, for those passionate about flying
- Air Surveillance, for reconnaissance and security flights
“The Halcon 2 is planned to satisfy the needs of Mexican aviation. It will offer competitive advantages like efficiency, cost of flight-hour, ergonomics, easy to pilot and safety. Another plus is the quality of its materials and its construction design”, said the Governor.
Other companies are involved
In this great project by Horizontec, other companies are participating like Grupo SSC from San Miguel de Allende, also part of the aerospace sector of Guanajuato, and which is a leader in the simulation software, said the Governor.
“The collaboration of these companies is generating an innovation ecosystem, where we all win”, said the Governor.
Participate and reinforce
Giovanni Angelucci Carrasco, Director of Horizontec and Vice President of the Aerospace Cluster of Guanajuato, said that this is an important event; “Now we can have a place to continue with our projects, like the Halcon 2 and we are eager to participate and reinforce the MindFacture of Guanajuato”.
