With an offer of 21 active commercial flights from the Bajio International Airport, Guanajuato consolidates its position as one of the main tourist destinations in Mexico.
Connectivity includes 11 domestic flights to key destinations such as Tijuana, Cancun, Merida and Monterrey, and 10 international flights linking Guanajuato with U.S. cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston, in addition to strengthening the State’s global presence.
With this connectivity and the diversity of international markets, Guanajuato is positioned as a destination that combines history, culture and modernity, attracting more and more tourists from around the world in this new beginning of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.
The Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Lupita Robles Leon, highlighted the growth in the number of international visitors from traditional and emerging markets, highlighting the United States for its proximity.
“Approximately 56% of our international market is the United States, for obvious reasons: our proximity and all our migrants. The second market varies every year, but Spain and Colombia stand out. In Colombia we have made very important efforts; they love coming to Guanajuato. Canada is also an important market,” the Secretary said.
Robles noted the recent interest of Japanese and German tourists, with whom the aim is to strengthen ties through unique cultural experiences. “We have the issue of Americans, but Europe has also grown (in visits to Guanajuato)”.
“Europeans come here a lot, but we have identified other countries, such as Japan, which are a growing market that seeks to learn about this historic and colonial Mexico. As for the Germans, although they are more reserved, we seek to enamor them with the diversity that Guanajuato offers,” said Robles.
The air offer in Guanajuato on domestic flights includes:
- Tijuana, Cancun, Merida, Mexicali, San Jose del Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Hermosillo, Mexico City, Monterrey and Ciudad Juarez
Meanwhile, International Flights are to:
