Two tourism and innovative projects that position Guanajuato as the Greatness of Mexico, were recognized with the “Excellence Awards” in the celebration of the International Tourism Fair -FITUR-, in Madrid, Spain.
In the South Auditorium, Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, received from Jose Carlos de Santiago, President of Grupo Excelencias, and Miguel Torruco Marques, Secretary of Federal Tourism, the two awards highlight international good practices in tourism, gastronomy, art and culture.
In Audiovisual category, Guanajuato received the award for the TV Series “And you, what are you going to do”, which distinguishes the State for being the only destination that has achieved this project that shows, to an important audience, the attributes and vocations of tourism destinations.
Starting 2022, SECTUR Guanajuato and TV4 launched the 1st. season of this series starring Arap Bethke, an internationally renowned actor, who travels with his backpack and shows the gastronomic, cultural, romantic, adventure and nature, sports, wellness, MICE, spirits and wine experiences offered by the 46 destinations of Guanajuato.
In the Gourmet Excellence category, Guanajuato won an award for the project “Sustainability and Traceability of the vineyards of Guanajuato”, for the adoption of good sustainability practices, positioning the Guanajuato Wine Route “Independence Valley”.
The Wine Route is made up of 108 members including:
- Vineyards, Golf Courses, Experiences, Gastronomy, Lodging, Wellness, Venues for events, local producers and must-sees
The State Government matches supply with demand, encouraging tourism service providers, who are on the route of the vineyards, to sell better and more frequently.
“Guanajuato follows a path of innovation and, above all, continuity to be a world tourism benchmark. Congratulations to the tourism sector, to the wine producers, and to TV4, which, with SECTUR, promotes tourist activity and promotes the tourist attractions and benefits of the municipalities; thus, Guanajuato continues to live great stories in the Independence Valley”, said Alvarez Brunel.
The winners were chosen by an independent jury that anonymously analyzed the applications submitted. This jury was made up of prominent national and international personalities, who operate in the most absolute secrecy to guarantee the fairest decision.
The Excelencias Awards are known for their great track record. These were created in 2005 by the Excelencias Group, an international communication cluster to promote excellence in different areas. Since then, they have become a reference for all those who are involved in developing their activity, always to achieve excellence.
