The FITUR 2025 started great for Guanajuato, these awards reflect the tireless efforts of all those involved in tourism in the State
The awards recognize “The Traditional Cuisine Meeting” and “La Casona Minera – Spa Caliche”

The effort and commitment of the people working in the tourism sector of Guanajuato was recognized with two “Excellence Awards” at the launch of the most important meeting of the tourism sector worldwide: International Tourism Fair -FITUR- 2025.
In the category of the Excelencias Gourmet Public Awards, the award went to “El Encuentro de Cocina Tradicional” (The Meeting of Traditional Cuisine), an event promoted by the Secretary of Tourism and Identity through the Public Policy “Guanajuato, Sí Sabe” (Guanajuato, Does Taste), which positions traditional cuisine on global stages. This event is held once a year in different venues throughout the State.
Meanwhile in the Wellness category, the award went to “La Casona Minera – Spa Caliche”, a luxury boutique hotel in the Magical Town of Mineral de Pozos, in the municipality of San Luis de la Paz.
Representing Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, Lupita Robles Leon, Secretary of Tourism and Identity, who heads the Government Delegation of the State of Guanajuato that attended FITUR, highlighted the importance of the awards that reflect a tribute to the cooks, producers, entrepreneurs, and the entire value chain involved in creating pleasant experiences.
Jose Carlos de Santiago, President of Grupo Excelencias, presented the Excelencias Awards and, during his speech, thanked the support and collaboration both in this gala and in the last 20 years of the awards. He highlighted the participation of applications, highlighting that more than 500 public and private projects from Mexico were received.
The Traditional Cuisine Meeting is an experience that has left good results. Traditional cooks from the 46 municipalities of Guanajuato meet in this event to spread the gastronomic richness, give visibility to customs and traditions and boost the local economy.
In this experience, Guanajuatenses and visitors experience an explosion of flavors and culture by tasting dishes prepared with endemic products and traditional techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation. Producers and artisans join this gastronomic experience.
The preservation of its gastronomy and the revitalization of historic places such as La Casona Minera, located in the Magical Town of Mineral de Pozos, demonstrate the joint effort of communities, businessmen and authorities to position the State as an unparalleled destination.
A total of 17 countries were awarded. The applicant projects were received through a web form until December 19, 2024. Once the finalists awarded by the jury were known, the online popular vote was opened until January 14, 2025, in the Grupo Excelencias media: Caribbean News Digital and Excelencias Gourmet.
The jury was composed of seven top-level members from the arts, culture, gastronomy and tourism sectors. Institutions, companies and individuals from 22 countries participated on this occasion and more than 2,930 applications were received. For the second time, a popular vote was opened among the finalists, thus giving the projects the opportunity to receive the Public Excellence Awards. This initiative had a great result with almost 60 thousand votes (after verification and audit) in 11 days.
These awards were created by Grupo Excelencias to recognize outstanding projects in Tourism, celebrate innovation, excellence in the sector, the growing relevance of gastronomy as a driving force of tourism and, more than anything, the people who make tourism a great experience.
Guanajuato reaffirms its position as a leader in cultural, gastronomic and sustainable tourism, thanks to the passion and performance of its people in creating experiences for the world.
