Guanajuato is one of the most important generators of electric energy using new technologies to produce renewable energy. The State is in eighth place in generation of photovoltaic energy.
Facing climate change
The Government of Guanajuato bets on helping curb the climate change with public policies and international alliances to strengthen programs, strategies and projects that accelerate the climate protection.
Increasing generation
According to the report of the Secretary of Energy –SENER- in its Program of Development of the National Electric System –PRODESEN- 2020-2034, Guanajuato has significantly increased the generation of photovoltaic energy, thanks to permits granted by the Energy Regulating Commission –CRE- in the electricity sector.
The eighth producer
Guanajuato is eighth place in Mexico in generation of photovoltaic energy. Besides it has a 3MW of installed capacity in production of bioenergy and the commitment to go on betting on renewable energies that let it abide to the Paris Agreement, to limit the increase in the global temperature just below 1.5°C by using this type of Clean Energies.
Self-supply
According to the permits granted by CRE, in Guanajuato, 22 companies have been recognized as generators of electricity for self-supply. Of those 22 only 15 are actually operating.
During the last 2 years (by 2021) 836 photovoltaic modules have been installed on homes, public schools and public buildings of the Government of the State of Guanajuato, with a power of generating renewable energy for 276.9 kW.
Reducing carbon dioxide
These actions generate 472.24 MWh (megawatts-hour) a year, reducing 238.48 tons of CO2eq (carbon dioxide equivalent) each year.
In this State Administration the System of Sustainable Public Administration –SAPS- is promoted, it helps increase the use of clean energies and the use of programs of energetic efficiency in public buildings of the State Government, abiding to an environmental public policy with vision.
