“Today Guanajuato is taking a great leap in its development with this historic announcement of the laying of the first stone of the largest ‘Data Center’ in Latin America”, said Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
The Governor was at the beginning of the construction of the company Layer 9 Mexico; the first “Data Center” in Guanajuato, it will be the largest in Mexico and Latin America, installed in the Chuy Maria Industrial Park.
Layer 9 is an American company dedicated to hosting data from privately owned servers and network equipment in a third-party data center, that is, instead of maintaining internal servers, in offices or in a private data center, companies can co-locate their data by renting space in a hub.
This storage space, added the Governor, places Guanajuato as the epicenter on the map of data management in Latin America and it will work with renewable energies.
The company will use a platform, based in the United States, to provide data solutions to partner companies, such as local governments, utility companies, developers and contractors.
“Each company that settles in our territory becomes a great ally in the development of our state; I am sure that Layer 9 Mexico with all its ‘know how’ will come to join in the transition that we are promoting from manufacture to Mindfacture. They came to a State where innovation and entrepreneurship are part of our DNA”, said the Governor.
In Guanajuato, explained the Governor, as the epicenter of Mindfacture, an ecosystem is generated to develop local talent and investments are received, but the Energy Agency of the State of Guanajuato is also in the process of being formed, to have enough sustainable energy in the future for new companies.
“This company is a turning point, it is a historic moment for Guanajuato, because we began to consolidate the Valle de la Mentefactura. We want to innovate, design, invent and Layer 9 Data Center, will bring that to us in Guanajuato”, said the Governor.
The company will invest:
- 800 million dollars in two stages
- 400 million will go to the first stage
- It will be ready by the end of 2023
- 2,500 direct and indirect jobs
Layer 9 Data Center, has more than 50 years of experience in information management and today it helps Guanajuato catch up with important megatrends of the digital revolution, such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence applied to the “Big Data”.
