The ‘Hacienda Tourist Corridors’ are added as an innovative offer to the cultural, historical and gastronomic offer of Guanajuato.
Attractive products
Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo chaired the VIII National Convention of the Association of Owners of Haciendas of Mexico, where the potential and development of attractive products for national and foreign tourism is analyzed.
“Guanajuato 30 years ago was a State that was only beginning to develop the tourist vision, today we have 2 World Heritage Cities, 6 Magical Towns, 5 Archaeological Zones, 35 vineyards as destinations for weddings, denomination of origin of mezcal and tequilas”.
Heritage treasures
Hacienda tourism represents the rescue of the States heritage treasures, preserves the cultural and historical legacy that integrates the haciendas, which offer tourism alternatives in hotels, restaurants or places for events.
Growing big
“Tourism represents 10% of the State GDP, it is the sector that has grown the most, and that is where we have a great opportunity to continue generating wealth with its integration into the work of Mindfacture, which allows us to innovate in better tourism products, to generate higher income for families that depend on this sector,” he said.
Allies, not enemies
The Governor highlighted that thanks to citizen participation in the last 30 years, public policies on social and economic development have been given continuity in Guanajuato.
“We see businessmen as allies, not enemies, businessmen are the ones who create wealth, who risk capital, the government creates the conditions for them to invest”, said the Governor.
Reduce poverty
“The only way to reduce poverty is to generate wealth and jobs, gifts end up being a vicious circle that keeps people in poverty; the only way to get out of it is with education, giving people tools and conditions for formal employment so that they can develop; and in Guanajuato we are convinced of it,” said Rodríguez Vallejo.
Today within the Association of Hacienda Owners, the state has more haciendas registered:
- Santa Ana y Lobos
- Santuario Cañada de Ortega
- San Cristóbal
- Jesús María
- Jaralillo
- Jalpa de Cánovas
- Las Trancas
More haciendas
Three of them offer tourist products; there are another 9 haciendas that, even if they are not part of the Association, they already offer different experiences and are already accepting tourists.
Finding more places
The Ministry of Tourism has identified 99 haciendas most of them in Northern Municipalities, as well as in Silao and Salvatierra. The buildings range in their time of contruction from the period of the Viceroyalty to the Porfiriato.
