Elizabeth del Rosario Salas, Brandon Kevin Ramirez Rosales, Christian Chacon Valdez, Diego Jimenez, and Flavio Cesar Nieto Ruiz are the five young students who participated in various research projects for 16 weeks, as they were supported by a scholarship awarded to them by the Government of the State of Guanajuato, through Juventudes.

“I would like to congratulate you from the bottom of my heart for having the opportunity to be part of this great experience with NASA. This achievement not only reflects your incredible talent and dedication, but also your commitment to science, technology and the future of humanity,” said Regina Trujillo, General Director of Juventudes.
“The work you have done is not easy, and your efforts have been fundamental to advance in areas that will continue to inspire future generations of explorers and scientists. Thank you for your passion and for being part of one of the most important institutions in the world, Juventudes”, said Trujillo.

In 2024 Juventudes launched the call and NASA was in charge of choosing the five young people who lived this experience.
Upon their return to Guanajuato, the five young students committed themselves to share the knowledge acquired during their stay, motivating the youth community and being an example that nothing is impossible when it comes to achieving dreams.

“This experience made me realize how much we can achieve if we believe in ourselves and try hard. Now, back home, I feel a strong commitment to my community. I want to share what I learned, motivate other young people to dream big and show that it is possible to achieve goals that seem unattainable; this is not the end, but the beginning of something bigger that I want to build at home,” said Diego, a young beneficiary.
For Christian, leaving his country for the first time is a fact that made him broaden his perspective and realize that knowledge has no borders.
“I am returning to Mexico with a new vision of what it means to be an engineer, a scientist, a human being in a constantly evolving planet. The knowledge acquired in simulation, system design, robotics and space applications are not just tools to solve problems, they are fundamental pieces to build a better future,” said Christian.

Cesar was able to gain greater trust in his abilities by working with renowned scientists and researchers at NASA.
“I am very pleased to return knowing that my work was well received at NASA and that the achievements I have obtained open the doors for more Mexicans to collaborate with the institution. Therefore, I want to apply what I have learned in a place that shares common interests with me,” said Cesar.

Liz was the only woman to win this competition and after her stay she is motivated to continue with her innovation projects and development of water recycling systems.
“On a personal level, this experience has reinforced my commitment to science as a key driver of human progress. I return with a renewed motivation to share my experience with young people and students from my university and elsewhere, encouraging them to pursue their scientific and professional vocation”, said Liz.

For Brandon, teamwork had a different meaning after his time at NASA, as he was able to witness how great projects become a reality due to the integration of committed professionals who have the same goal.

“I feel much more motivated to do something for my country. During my time at NASA I had the opportunity to meet many Mexicans, whether in restaurants, at work or even as neighbors, all of them told me the same thing: “You are a source of pride for Mexicans” or “I believe that there is a great future in Mexico.” These words gave me a deep sense of belonging to my country and awakened in me the desire to do something for Mexico and for all those people who believe in us”, said Brandon.
This is the way the Government of the State of Guanajuato reaffirms its commitment to its youth, promoting those projects that generate a positive impact on their life projects and their future.
