At the Civic Plaza of the Glorieta Santa Fe, in Guanajuato City, the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, presided over the event commemorating the 201 years of the Constitution of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State and the State Flag Day.
“I want to invite you to strongly feel this pride. May your heart beat strongly and may this State, which we love so much, continue to inspire us to be the best version of each and every one of us,” said the Governor of Guanajuato.
Guanajuato was one of the first States to declare itself free and sovereign; and this year marks 201 years since this Guanajuato was established as a State; it is a pioneer in Mexican federalism.
The date also coincides with the State Flag Day, a symbol that unites all Guanajuatenses with their history, values and traditions. For this reason, a ceremony was held where flags were raised and the National and State anthems of Guanajuato were sung.
“Each of these civic events that we celebrate is a great tribute, a great opportunity to remember that history should not be kept in a drawer, it should not be locked away in the pages of a book,” said Libia Dennise.
State Flag Day is a reminder of respect and love for the symbols that represent us. The Flag of Guanajuato represents the struggle, effort and dedication of generations that have made this state a national reference.
The 201 years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State, together with the State Flag Day, are not only a look at the past, but a reaffirmation of the present and a commitment to the future, said the Governor.
