With a production of 896 thousand vehicles, Guanajuato has made history in the automotive industry by reaching a record production figure in 2024, consolidating itself as the leading State in the manufacture of transportation units in Mexico.
The economic policy of the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, outlines Guanajuato as the largest producer of vehicles in Mexico, reflecting its industrial strength and capacity for innovation to generate prosperity.
The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, said that with this milestone, Guanajuato reaffirms its leadership in the automotive industry, promoting growth, investment and job creation that benefits thousands of families, ensuring a prosperous future for the region.
Guanajuato’s economic policy is designed for the people, putting the well-being of families at the center through job creation, investment promotion and strengthening the industrial ecosystem.
In addition, Guanajuato recorded a manufacturing production value of 1.2 billion pesos, positioning in second place in Mexico.
The dynamism of the sector has driven an unprecedented economic acceleration, with an annual growth of 8.2% in the value of manufacturing production, well above the national average of 2.2%.
In the automotive and auto parts sector, the state reached a production value of 658 billion pesos, achieving first place in this industry for the first time and surpassing Coahuila. This sector managed to grow by 16.8 percent in 2024.
One of the key factors in this success is the presence of four world-class automakers: Honda, General Motors, Toyota and Mazda, making Guanajuato the only state in Mexico with this competitive advantage.
Also, in the automotive sector Guanajuato has the presence of companies such as Ford, Volkswagen, Pirelli, American Axle, Michelin, Hirotec, Condumex, Continental, BOS Automotive, GKN Driveline, Schaeffler, Hutchinson and Grupo Antolin, just to mention a few.
This infrastructure has enabled not only the mass production of vehicles, but also the attraction of strategic investments in supply, technology and talent development.
This performance not only strengthens the competitiveness of Guanajuato, but also generates thousands of jobs for Guanajuatense families, consolidating the State as a driver of national economic development by generating an industrial connection that adds Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to the value chains.
