The Gto Health System endorses a supply of medicines in the 46 municipalities greater than 90%.
Despite the fact that there is a significant shortage of medicines in Mexico that directly harms some States, Doctor Daniel Diaz Martinez, Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, highlighted that Guanajuato exceeds other states with 96 percent supply.
This supply is due to the fact that Guanajuato has its own medication system that allows it.
And the other 4% missing corresponds to medicines with high demand such as insulins, antibiotics and analgesics, in addition to the fact that each medical specialty handles between 20 or 30 keys out of more than 2,600 that are in supply.
Diaz Martinez added that Guanajuato does not have a storage or warehouse system, given the complexity of conserving the different medication codes.
“On the contrary, through an organized network, providers deliver and manage sufficient supplies without surpluses in each medical unit”, said Diaz Martinez.
“The shortage corresponds to a lack of supply in all of Mexico that will affect not only Guanajuato but the whole country and from wanting a health system like Denmark what is looming is one like that of Venezuela,” said Diaz Martinez.
The Secretary said that this lack of supply corresponds in the same way to the lack of raw material for the manufacture of pharmaceutical supplies, increasing demand; that in the face of little or no supply increases the shortage.
“When you centralize the medication system, control takes a long time and in the end there is no control, and you receive insufficient codes and some you don’t ask for, we eliminate that by having our own system”, said Diaz Martinez.
Daniel Diaz said that work is being done on a fully developed strategy based on prevention and the implementation of healthy habits and lifestyles. Besides, said Diaz Martinez, with a healthy life, in the future health complications will be avoided, for example, a pregnant woman with the correct and full care would hardly have a complicated pregnancy and therefore will require less care expenses.
