Guanajuato’s 2026 Fiscal Package proposes a historic increase: the budget allocated to the local farmers will grow by 108%

The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led a meeting on Sunday with wheat producers of Guanajuato, with Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Federal Government of Mexico (SADER), Julio Berdegue Sacristan, with whom she held an open dialogue to listen to the concerns of the sector and advance in joint solutions to the current challenges.
The Governor thanked Secretary Berdegue for his presence and acknowledged the importance of Guanajuato being one of the first states visited as part of the national tour that SADER will carry out through the 12 wheat-producing states.
For the benefit of the sector, the Governor reported that in the 2026 Fiscal Package, already presented to the State Congress, the budget allocated to the agriculture sector was increased by 108%, a decision made in direct response to the needs raised by the Guanajuatense producers.
Libia explained that this increase will not only strengthen productive programs, but it will also strengthen the infrastructure and quality of life in rural communities, including improvements in roads, basic services and conditions that allow a more dignified environment for rural families.
“We want farmers to be productive and competitive, but also for the communities of origin to experience development. We want the work of those who produce to be reflected in fair income for their familie,” said Libia Dennise.
The Governor reaffirmed that the distribution of this budget will be done by listening directly to the people, visiting municipalities, holding ongoing dialogues, and ensuring that the resources reach those who truly need them.
The Federal Secretary shared that they are touring the country, visiting wheat producers to listen to concerns, learn about situations, and agree on solutions; in his message, he acknowledged the support of the Government of Guanajuato for agriculture.
“I want to thank and congratulate the Governor for this decision to double the budget; I thank her because it contributes to the central objective of the Federal Government,” said the head of SADER.
In the reunion agriculture producers proposed to SADER to strengthen the operating mechanisms to ensure that each farmer can access the programs with more agile and transparent processes.
They also called for continued development of frameworks that provide certainty to the agricultural sector, from stronger rules for the relationship with industry to fiscal and financing models that boost productivity and protect the income of farming families.
They also requested the continuity of institutions such as the National Agrarian Registry and the Agrarian Attorney’s Office in Guanajuato, which are fundamental for the daily management of the sector.
Meanwhile the Government of Guanajuato pledged to strengthen credit support for agriculture through the “Tu Puedes Guanajuato” Financial and Support program.
