Authorities from both States hold a second work meeting, with Federal officials to detail maintenance and cleaning actions related to civil protection

The Government of Guanajuato reaffirmed its commitment to maintain open communication, exchanging data, and working as a team and hand in hand with Federal and Queretaro State Authorities to prevent risks during the rain season, for the benefit of the people.
The second roundtable discussion was held at the Queretaro Convention Center. Secretary of Government of Guanajuato Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona was accompanied by Secretary of Water and Environment Jose Lara Lona and Luis Antonio Guereca Perez, State Coordinator of Civil Protection for Guanajuato.
Guereca presented the work carried out in flood prevention, benefiting both States. The meeting also included the participation of Secretary of Government of the State of Queretaro, Carlos Alberto Alcaraz Gutierrez, along with municipal authorities from Queretaro City, Huimilpan, Corregidora, and El Marques.
“Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo sends her cordial greetings, thank you, and welcomes these types of meetings; our priority is to work in a coordinated manner, with a vocation for service and professionalism for the benefit of the public. These type of meetings allow us to save lives by sharing and coordinating maintenance and rehabilitation efforts,” said Secretary of Government Jorge Jimenez Lona.
The State Official said that this technical meeting will not only help prevent disasters, but is also the best example of how both States can work together to save lives and the assets of their residents.
“I ask the Secretary of Water and Environment and Civil Protection of Guanajuato to report to the State of Queretaro on the cleanup and maintenance actions being donet, and that you, in turn, can provide us with feedback, so we can inform the public about the actions being taken to prevent flooding; so that people know their authorities are working,” said the Secretary of Government.
Among the agreements reached at the work meeting were:
- Continue coordination among the three levels of government
- Prepare a municipal and State civil protection report for both States
- Advance in the coordination with the Sedena, National Guard, Conagua
- Continue prioritizing cleaning efforts
- Monitor the storage levels of reservoirs and dams
“This work will be reflected in the well-being and peace of mind of families in Queretaro and Guanajuato. This is proof that institutional capacity and capital are working for the benefit of citizens,” said Queretaro Secretary of Government Carlos Alberto Alcaraz Gutierrez.
