The Secretary of Health, Gabriel Cortes, reported that at the closing of National Vaccination Week, Guanajuato has registered 96% progress regarding the goal established by ISAPEG, which includes administering 48,000 vaccines in 632 health units and 950 vaccination centers across the State’s 46 municipalities.

The Secretary of Health called on citizens to go to public health centers and hospitals to get vaccinated free of charge, regardless of their eligibility.

“The goal is 48,000 vaccines, and we’re 96% done, which is a good number. I take this opportunity to urge everyone to go to any health center to get vaccinated. It’s completely free. It doesn’t matter if you have IMSS or ISSSTE; everyone is welcome and cared for,” said Cortes.
Guanajuato has surpassed the number of vaccines administered in States with larger populations, such as Mexico City and Veracruz, with a total of 62,000 doses administered jointly by the SSG, IMSS, ISSSTE, Pemex, and Sedena. This places the State in sixth place nationwide in terms of progress this year.

Cortes Alcala indicated that, after the conclusion of the first National Vaccination Week 2025, various vaccines will continue to be administered, although the intensive reinforcement with health personnel specifically assigned to this preventive strategy ended on May 3.
The Secretary of Health emphasized that vaccination is the best way to prevent disease, especially in the face of the resurgence of whooping cough and measles, both nationally and internationally: “This week serves to raise awareness among the entire population about the importance of getting vaccinated,” said Cortes.

Available vaccines include:
- BCG, hepatitis, pneumococcal, hexavalent, rotavirus, MMR, SR, DPT, TD, and HPV, all available at Secretary of Health units
