León/Gto News

Guanajuato is experiencing a momentum for wine and gastro-wine tourism thanks to the People’s Government led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, with the 2025 Harvest season that consolidates the State as a national and international benchmark in wine culture.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato promotes this sector as an essential attribute for promoting the destination, as more and more visitors are coming to the State, attracted by its wine offer and the international recognition it has received in recent years.

The 2025 Harvest season began on August 8 and will last until October 18, with a total of 14 celebrations in vineyards across the State, of which five remain. This weekend, two harvests were held at the Tierra de Luz and San Jose Lavista vineyards.

During the season, more than 12,000 visitors are expected to attend, generating an economic impact exceeding 11.6 million pesos, tourists come primarily from Mexico City, Queretaro, Aguascalientes, and Jalisco, as well as from countries such as the United States, Japan, and Colombia.

The growth of wine and gastronomy tourism in Guanajuato strengthens the State’s international presence. In 2024, Guanajuato hosted the Brussels World Competition, the world’s most prestigious wine tasting event, held in the Americas for the first time in its history. Furthermore, Guanajuato wines have garnered multiple awards in recent months, including Vinedo San Miguel’s fourth Gold Medal in Mexico’s history at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Today, Guanajuato has 62 wine projects, 27 of which already have established tourism offer, and this number continues to grow exponentially.

In addition to the grape harvest, Guanajuato is preparing for a closing of the year celebration with key activities such as the International Balloon Festival, the Fiestas Patrias (Independence Holidays) in Dolores Hidalgo, the Day of the Dead festivals, and December events, with a projected 10% increase in visitors and economic benefits compared to the previous year.
