Guanajuato is positioned as a fundamental engine of industrial development in Mexico, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF) of the State Institute of National Statistics and Geography (INEGI) as of July of 2025.
Under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, Guanajuato is promoting industrial growth through strategic public policies focused on strengthening the manufacturing industry.
The head of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, noted Guanajuato’s economic leadership with dynamic growth in key sectors that directly impact the prosperity and quality of life of Guanajuatense families.
According to IMAIEF, the State leads the growth in generation, transmission and energy, with a remarkable annual advance of 33.5%, a figure that places it first nationally and reinforces its industrial leadership.
The energy sector, the one with the greatest weight and impact, drives the overall growth of Guanajuato, consolidating its role as a spearhead within the Mexican industrial economy.
At the same time, construction shows a sustained growth of 16.9%, placing Guanajuato in second position nationally, which reflects the vitality of the sector in infrastructure and urban development.
Mining reports an annual growth of 9%, standing out as an essential component for the diversification and economic stability of the State.
Overall, Guanajuato’s global industrial activity registered an annual increase of 3.4%, with a monthly growth of 1.3%, consolidating its place as the third largest contributor to the country’s industrial growth.
These data demonstrate the stability and dynamism that characterize Guanajuato, with an economy grows above the national average and continues to be a strategic pillar for Mexico’s economic development.
